This rings lots of memory-bells for me too. I love words & thanks to having a mother & grandmother who taught English, I valued the wide world of reading. In grad school I often cherished positive commenets from profs (known for their own books!) who encouraged me
to continue writing in the field of social service. I’ve enjoyed taking Clearing classes (Jerry Apps, Ellen Kort) to remind me to get it on paper. I especially love journaling the trips I’ve been fortunate to explore: New Zealand, Fiji,Venezuela, Europe, Hawaii, Japan, the Greek Islands & all of the Caribbean. Travel always freshens my perspective, & more important my appreciation of this precious gift of life.

    Hi, Gerri,
So glad you could relate to my feelings about words and language.
How fortunate you were to have a mother & grandmother with
whom you could share your love of reading and writing. Yes,
    keep writing…

I have also found keeping a journal to be a very pleasant and precious near-daily habit. Mine is very private and I share your puzzlement over what to do with my collection of various kinds of journals. I started journaling after attending a session about journaling at the FC YMCA in 2002 and reading Sarah Ban Breathnach’s SIMPLE ABUNDANCE.

The years from 2002 to the present have been years of profound soul-searching and spiritual growth for me. It’s enlightening to me, sometimes, to read back and notice either changes or similarities in the issues I was facing and am facing now. Pages of poetry or pictures or articles that have been important to me are often placed between the pages of the spiral-bound notebooks I’ve been using the past few years. When I travel, I carry particularly precious pages of affirmations, UU writings, poems in my current notebook.

Thanks for sharing your journal here, Myrna. You are always an inspiration and a model for me.
